Venerdì 16 aprile alle 18, nell'ambito del ciclo i21, si tiene una conversazione con Yanis Varoufakis, sulla visione di un mondo alternativo presentata nel suo nuovo libro Another Now: un mondo che superi la presente versione del capitalismo, chiamato da Varoufakis “tecnofeudalesimo”.

Yanis Varoufakis è stato Ministro delle Finanze della Grecia nel 2015, durante la crisi del debito greco, è membro del parlamento ellenico, fondatore del movimento transazionale Democrazia in Movimento 2025 (DiEM25), co-fondatore dell’organizzazione Progressive International. È professore di Economia all’Università di Atene, ha conseguito una laurea magistrale in statistica matematica all’Università di Birmingham e un dottorato in economia all’Università dell’Essex.

Another Now è un libro affascinante. È un romanzo di fantascienza, in cui l’autore usa come un dispositivo letterario la teoria degli universi multipli per descrivere un altro mondo in cui la sua visione di un’economia di mercato senza capitalismo si è realizzata davvero, seguendo una storia alternativa che si è separata dal nostro mondo nel 2008, durante la crisi finanziaria.

Questo stratagemma gli consente di descrivere i dettagli dell’organizzazione di questo “Another Now”.

A conversation with Yanis Varoufakis on his vision for an alternative world, beyond the present version of capitalism - that he calls “technofeudalism” - presented in his new book, Another Now.

Yanis Varoufakis has been Finance Minister of Greece in 2015 at the time of the Greek debt crisis, and presently is Member of the Hellenic Parliament, founder of the transnational Democracy in Europe Movement 2025 (DiEM25), co-founder of the Progressive International organization. He is Professor of Economics at the University of Athens, has a MS in mathematical statistics from Birmingham University and a PhD in Economics from the University of Essex.

Yanis Varoufakis is one of the leading public intellectuals with worldwide recognition and we are really honored he accepted to have a public conversation on the issues regarding society, markets, and workers, discussed in his new book. Another Now is a fascinating book. It is a science fiction novel, in which he uses as a literary device the “many-world” theory to describe another world in which his vision of a market economy without capitalism has come to existence, following an alternative history that departed from our world in 2008, during the financial crisis.

This device gives him the possibility to describe the details of the organization of this “Another Now”. I21 is a series of conversation with Giuseppe Iannaccone on how to prepare for the future, and the impact of technology and science on society, jobs, culture, economics, education.
