ABSTRACT:

The seminar is focused on the problem of autonomous rendezvous and docking with the International Space Station - ISS, in orbit around the Earth. The talk will start with an introduction on the history of rendezvous and docking to be followed by the details of the automated rendezvous and docking performed by the Autonomous Transfer Vehicle, which completed the first time in history autonomous rendezvous and docking with the ISS in 2008, while Prof. Lizy-Destrez was in the control room as a member of the Vehicle Engineer Team at CNES.

BIO:

Prof. Lizy-Destrez is an associate professor in Space System Engineering at ISAE- SUPAERO - Institut Supérieur de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace – Toulouse, France, she also covers the roles of head of Space Systems Design research group of ISAE- SUPAERO and Coordinator of the ESA LaB @ISAE-SUPAERO (Responsible and sustainable space exploration). Previously she covered many roles of responsibility both in the academic and in the industrial fields, among which, between 2007 and 2009, she was Member of the Vehicle Engineer Team during the first ATV Mission.
